The project: Convert this Honda Del Sol into an electric vehicle, yanking the stinky old combustion engine out while its still beating.
Ordinarilly this may seem difficult. But my good friend Larry has the same car, already converted. A bit of reverse-engineering... and VOILA! It should resemble the images below:
Sliding battery rack in the trunk. There are 8 additional batteries underneath.
Various views of the Manzanita charger in the trunk, along with fans to keep things cool while charging.
The batteries underneath the sliding rack in the trunk extend to the compartments behind the seats
Various views of the motor under the hood.
The Curtis controller, under the hood.
The breaker switch is located under the hood.
The challenge: Extend the range to 80 miles, allowing the vehicle to travel up and down the nearby mountains (Lake Arrowhead to Fontana) with a 4000 foot change in elevation.
